Sean and I talked on the phone quite a while about his planned Nashville surprise proposal. I could hear the smile in his voice as he told me about Danielle and how they met in Florida. They were both attending the same college for their undergraduate degrees. Sean joined a fraternity and Danielle was the fraternity’s “sweetheart”. Since my college years were in my mid twenties and off-campus, I had to google the term “sweethearts”. “Sweethearts” are college women chosen by fraternity brothers. They serve as party guests, public relation advocates, friends to the brothers. They became friends and yes, she thought he was cute. Sadly, Danielle was already dating someone, and Sean jokingly admitted he often thought she should dump him. Eventually, she became single. Although, Danielle didn’t know what to think when Sean declined her invite to a sorority party. She later found out that Sean is very committed to his schooling, excelling at becoming his best. He had a paper due and didn’t want to fail.

Since Sean is a year ahead of Danielle, she finished her last year of undergraduate in FL. Meanwhile, he started his first year of medical school in Knoxville. For a year they were long distance. He is now in his second year at the University of Tennessee and she is in her first year of medical school at Virginia Tech. They have spent four years building trust through friendship and another four and a half dating.

The Nashville Surprise Proposal at Arrington Vineyards

Sean picked Arrington Vineyards to propose to Danielle. They were gearing up for a twenty-eight day road trip together. Sean wanted his Nashville surprise proposal to happen at the beginning of their trip. We came up with a game plan. Since he had never been to Arrington, I needed to guide him where I wanted him to plop a blanket down with Danielle. Before he arrived, I crumpled up a small paper bag and put it on the ground. Maintenance does a thorough job there because they drove by and picked it up. He did find the perfect spot and the proposal went perfect. We had a little engagement mini session afterwards to celebrate. They started out on their road trip the very next day. It has been a treat to follow them on instagram and seeing every national park they visited. Here’s to them, four more years of schooling to become doctors and their future!
